About Dr. Jenkins


Dr. Abby Jenkins is a licensed clinical psychologist based in Salt Lake City, Utah. She specializes in administering psychological, educational, and social functioning assessments to children, adolescents, and adults in various settings across the country.


Education

Dr. Jenkins received her master's and doctoral degrees from Temple University in Philadelphia, which has been ranked among the top graduate programs in clinical psychology by U.S. News and World Report and is accredited by the American Psychological Association and the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System. While at Temple, Dr. Jenkins completed clinical/research rotations at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Jenkins completed her pre-doctoral internship and post-doctoral fellowship at the Huntsman Mental Health Institute at the University of Utah. She received her bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Wisconsin - Madison (Go Badgers!).

 

Professional Experience

Dr. Jenkins has nearly 20 years of experience providing assessment services in a variety of settings, including schools, community mental health clinics, therapeutic wilderness programs, residential treatment programs, and hospitals. She specializes in the administration of educational, psychological, and social functioning (including autism spectrum) test batteries. Her testing clients typically have complex clinical histories and require diagnostic clarification and input to inform treatment and educational planning. Though Dr. Jenkins frequently assesses clients enrolled in therapeutic treatment programs, she also provides assessment services to community members in Utah and across the country.

Prior to starting her assessment practice, Dr. Jenkins worked as a psychologist providing therapy and assessment services in psychiatric hospital and residential treatment settings. She has extensive training in cognitive-behavioral therapy and related techniques for the treatment of mood disorders, anxiety disorders, anger, and trauma.

Research Experience

Having attended one of the top research institutions in the field of clinical psychology, Dr. Jenkins has a strong foundation in research and regularly incorporates the latest findings into her practice. She also has conducted a great deal of her own research on the topics of mood disorders (depression and bipolar disorder), suicide, and self-injury. She has authored or co-authored ten peer reviewed publications in scientific journals, has co-authored three book chapters, and has presented her research at national and international conferences on more than 40 occasions. During her graduate training, Dr. Jenkins was awarded research grants and awards from Temple University, The Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, and the American Psychological Association.

Licensure and Professional Affiliations

Dr. Jenkins is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA) Clinical Psychology (Division 12), the Utah Psychological Association, and the National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs (NATSAP). She is a credentialed member of the National Register of Health Service Psychologists.

Dr. Jenkins is licensed as a doctoral-level psychologist in Utah, Idaho, Oregon, and Vermont, and is able to provide services in several other states.
